228,000 miles later...

I don't know what kind of person steals cars... oh wait yes I do. A really stupid, mean, awful, heartless, ugly person.

While James and I were at the gym on Monday night (yeah we work out) a person of the caliber I just described stole my beautiful, loving, kind, reliable, awesome, fully paid-for vehicle. I cannot describe the feelings I had at the moment we first noticed, but I do know that it was a little hard to believe. I've walked out of grocery stores, movie theaters, malls, airports etc... and not been able to find my car before, but this was different. The parking lot was small. I specifically remembered backing in to the parking place because I was heading toward the front in hopes of finding something closer, to no avail. In one quick glance around the parking lot, we knew it was gone. There were security cameras in the parking lot, but who am I kidding thinking that A) they would care enough to really investigate or watch the tapes, and B) they would be able identify the culprit...neither of which they did. I called the non-emergency number and they told us they would send an officer. Once he got there he told us that Honda Accords are pretty much the easiest cars to steal. He acted the opposite of the way I felt... like it was the littlest, most inconsequential thing in the world, meanwhile, I'm wishing he would measure the foot prints in the snow, take pictures of the crime scene, request the security tapes himself and track down that (expletive).

So here we are 6 days later....24 to go before the insurance company will consider it a total loss and pay me its value. I feel like my child got kidnapped (I realize that I can only say this because I don't actually have a child and if I did I would understand that a car is not nearly as important). I knew I would say goodbye to that car in the nearish future, whether because it would finally lose the energy to haul my butt around, or because I needed something a little bigger and more reliable and decided to pass it on to someone who would love it as much as I did. But now, I have no choice. It is gone and I don't know who is doing what with it, or where it is, or what shape it's in.... :( I filled it completely full of gas about 10 minutes before we went to the gym that night (great timing). But this means that someone could have easily gotten out of the state without even having to stop for gas or anything. It just kills me that whoever has it will never appreciate it as much as I did.

I just spent 30 minutes looking for a photo of my baby, but this is the best I could do. (top right)

Okay, I'm sorry. Enough whining. I have to admit that I was looking at cars for sale all during church today (the Honda would kill me if it knew I was moving on so quickly).

This is what we want:

Although, we will probably end up with something a little less shiny and new.

You guys and your phones...you were looking for cars all during church??

When your looking, you should just ask yourself, "Would I recommend this for mom and dad?" If you say yes....DON'T BUY IT!

Jerry's car was stolen in broad daylight in front of the Tutoring Club a few years ago. The thief even came in and asked to borrow a pen and wrote something down, left the pen and got in the car and drove away. I'm sure he was scoping out the situation before he stole it. Anyway, I thought "great we have his fingerprints on the pen he left behind!" The cops could have cared less, didn't even bother with it. Long story short, several months later we were notified by an impound lot that they had picked up the car, striped, and we owed tons of money to get it back. Then we started receiveing parking tickets that were given after it was stolen. Go figure! It was a nighmare to sort out. Hope you have better luck!

I have also heard that Accords are the most stolen cars...how sad. Well, at least you had some good years with it. New cars are always exciting though, I too love the Outback!!

Yeah, when my car was broken into several times a few years ago, I was also very disappointed they didn't take fingerprints or really do anything. I even knew who it was, so I really wanted figerprints taken so something could be done, they wouldn't do it though.

Sorry that happened, but hopefully the new car will bring you much happiness!

Also, we promise we won't steal all the good names -- we don't want to have THAT many kids!
